Utrecht II: Charting the future of Parapsychology

The HJBF initiated, funded and co-organized a conference in Utrecht, the Netherlands, together with the New York-based Parapsychology Foundation (PF), that was a tribute to “The First International Conference of Parapsychological Studies,” which was organized by the PF in the summer of 1953 in Utrecht. From October 15 – 18 2008, the conference “Utrecht II; Charting the future of Parapsychology” was held in Utrecht, partly using the same venues as the first conference 55 years ago.

The close cooperation of the Parapsychology Foundation and HJBF in 2008 made this second conference an iconic milestone in the history of parapsychology as an academic discipline. Over 90 participants from across the world were invited to descent on Utrecht and share their insights on the field, largely based on two questions: “What do we know?” and “Where are we going?”

The proceedings of this conference were published within the proceedings series of the Parapsychology Foundation and can be obtained from their website. A detailed day-to-day account of this conference, including all PowerPoint presentations, can be found on the website of the Parapsychology Foundation here.
